CARDIFF City FC lifted the Osnabruck Tournament trophy on Saturday as they continue to step-up their preparations for the new season on a pre-season tour to Germany.
The Bluebirds claimed back-to-back wins over VfL Osnabruck and FC St Pauli which ensured they triumphed in the competition.
It has been an encouraging start for new manager Paul Trollope as they demonstrated plenty of positive signs over the two 60-minute matches.
Goals from new signing Frederic Gounongbe, Declan John and Anthony Pilkington saw them comfortably dispose of the hosts in their first outing on Saturday morning.
They then claimed a 2-1 win over St Pauli later in the day after a disastrous goal-keeping blunder gifted them the winner following Lex Immers’ early goal.
It was a positive day for Trollope’s side as they stepped-up their preparations ahead of the new season.
They will now play German second tier side VfL Bochum in their penultimate pre-season fixture on Tuesday before returning home and travelling to Premier League side AFC Bournemouth on July 30.
The Bluebirds will then kick-off their Championship season away from home against Birmingham City at St Andrews on Saturday, August 6.
