Stand4Freedom day will arrive at Cardiff University this Wednesday 9th April. The event will aim to raise awareness of modern day slavery and to mobilise Cardiff students into taking action.
The Cardiff Student Justice Community, a subsidery of the International Justice Community (IJM), are spearheading the movement on campus and will operate two stands, one near Cardiff University Students’ Union and the other by Corbett Road.
The stands will be there to invite members of the public to sign the IJM petition to press the British Government to prioritise the enforcement of laws which make British child sex tourists and human traffickers accountable for their crimes committed abroad.
Volunteers will also be carrying around Stand4Freedom signs in order to raise awareness of the nearly 30 million trapped in slavery around the world. The Anti-Human Trafficking Coordinator for Wales, Stephen Chapman, has pledged his support for the event.
Last year, the international movement saw thousands of passionate college students raise awareness for the millions trapped in slavery globally.
