It was my most-prized kitchen gadget\u00d4\u00c7\u00aauntil it broke. Does this mean one has to go all-out and spend a small fortune on a fandangle bottle? Not at all! All you need is a jug, a sieve, a few ingredients! I love experimenting with flavours; with much trial and error, I have discovered a few of my favourite water infusion recipes to share with you!<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Lime and Mint<\/u><u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>My all-time favourite which I drink every single day.\u252c\u00e1 You can add as much or as little lime and mint to the water as you like, depending on your tastes, so this recipe is a mere guideline.\u252c\u00e1 I like it very limey with a hint of mint.<\/p>\n<p><u>Ingredients<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 lime<\/li>\n<li>1 sprig of mint<\/li>\n<li>1 litre of water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Method<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Cut the lime into quarters and squeeze into a jug before adding the limes themselves too.\u252c\u00e1 Roughly tear the mint leaves and add to the jug. Top up with water, then leave overnight to infuse. Take the lime quarters out after infusing because the peel can make the water taste bitter after too long. Strain through a sieve before drinking.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Grapefruit and Rosemary<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can substitute the rosemary for mint, equally delicious. I usually use pink grapefruit which is a bit sweeter than yellow.<\/p>\n<p><u>Ingredients<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u252c\u00a2 grapefruit<\/li>\n<li>2 sprigs of rosemary<\/li>\n<li>1 litre of water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Method<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Cut the grapefruit in half and squeeze the juice into the jug before adding the grapefruit too.\u252c\u00e1 Bruise the rosemary sprigs and add to the jug. Top with water and leave to infuse overnight.\u252c\u00e1 Strain through a sieve before drinking.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cardiffstudentmedia.co.uk\/quench\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/08\/Raspberry-Juice-Water-Lime-Infused-Water-Infused-1830120.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-14828\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffstudentmedia.co.uk\/quench\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/08\/Raspberry-Juice-Water-Lime-Infused-Water-Infused-1830120-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cardiffstudentmedia.co.uk\/quench\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/08\/Raspberry-Juice-Water-Lime-Infused-Water-Infused-1830120-199x300.jpg 199w, https:\/\/cardiffstudentmedia.co.uk\/quench\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/08\/Raspberry-Juice-Water-Lime-Infused-Water-Infused-1830120-768x1157.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cardiffstudentmedia.co.uk\/quench\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/08\/Raspberry-Juice-Water-Lime-Infused-Water-Infused-1830120-680x1024.jpg 680w, https:\/\/cardiffstudentmedia.co.uk\/quench\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/08\/Raspberry-Juice-Water-Lime-Infused-Water-Infused-1830120.jpg 850w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 199px) 100vw, 199px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Raspberry and Basil<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is refreshing, with or without lime.\u252c\u00e1 You can also substitute the basil with sage for a different option.<\/p>\n<p><u>Ingredients<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 large handful of raspberries<\/li>\n<li>1 sprig of basil leaves<\/li>\n<li>1 litre of water<\/li>\n<li>\u252c\u00a2 a lime (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Method<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Tear or bruise the basil leaves then add to the jug with the raspberries (and lime if using).\u252c\u00e1 Top up with the water and muddle (squash) all the ingredients as much as possible. Leave to infuse overnight and strain through a sieve before serving.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Apple and Cinnamon<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This could be drunk warm or cold and so is a comforting option for winter months.<\/p>\n<p><u>Ingredients<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 apple<\/li>\n<li>1 cinnamon stick, or \u252c\u00a2 teaspoon ground cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>2cm chunk of root-ginger (optional)<\/li>\n<li>1 litre of water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Method<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Cut the apple into thin slices, and pop into the jug.\u252c\u00e1 Add the cinnamon stick\/ground cinnamon (and ginger if using) to the jug and top with the water. Leave to infuse overnight and strain through a sieve before drinking.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Peach and Cardamom<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u><a href=\"https:\/\/cardiffstudentmedia.co.uk\/quench\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/08\/water.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-14829 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffstudentmedia.co.uk\/quench\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/08\/water-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cardiffstudentmedia.co.uk\/quench\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/08\/water-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/cardiffstudentmedia.co.uk\/quench\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/08\/water.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>Ingredients<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 large peach or 2 small peaches (or nectarines)<\/li>\n<li>\u252c\u255d teaspoon of ground cardamom (use \u252c\u00a2 if you want more spice)<\/li>\n<li>\u252c\u00a2 lemon (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Method<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Cut the peach into chunks and pop into the jug. Add the ground cardamom (and half a lemon if using) then top up with water. Leave to infuse overnight and strain through a sieve before drinking.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Cucumber and Watermelon<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>Ingredients<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u252c\u255d cucumber<\/li>\n<li>1 handful watermelon chunks<\/li>\n<li>1 sprig of mint<\/li>\n<li>\u252c\u00a2 lemon (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Method<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Chop the cucumber and watermelon into small cubes and add to a jug with the torn mint leaves, and lemon juice (if using). Top up with water and infuse overnight.
