The city something to suit all tastes in theatre and the arts. Here’s a couple of Quench’s favourites to get you started…<\/p>\n

C h a p t e r \u252c\u00e1 A r t s<\/p>\n

Despite being slightly out of the way, situated in Canton between Llandaff and Market Road, Chapter Arts should be by no means overlooked. Easily accessible from the city centre, Chapter Arts was founded in 1971 and has grown to become one of the major centres for the contemporary arts in Europe. It continues to remain true to the original vision of being a centre that houses art, theatre and dance under one roof, and is therefore long been established as one of the most influential cultural hubs in Cardiff – so it is definitely worth keeping an eye on upcoming exhibitions and performances.

S h e r m a n \u252c\u00e1 C y m r u<\/p>\n

Treading the boards after a \u252c\u00fa6.5 million facelift, with two impressive venues, bar and spacious new caf\u251c\u00ae area, Cardiff’s shiniest theatre is reopening its doors. Since 2007, Sherman Cymru’s diverse and daring shows have continued to shine in the limelight. Highlights this season include the promising new play \u00d4\u00c7\u00ffBefore it Rains’, opening on the 10th September. Penned by new Welsh talent Katherine Chandler, we see the Sherman championing local work from deep, dark theatre to uplifting song and dance from FAR on the 27th. If that’s not enough to tempt you in for a cultural cuppa, it’s also within easy reaching distance from both the Students’ Union and the train station. Dishing out the homemade cake to spoonfuls of creative chaos, Sherman Cymru is quickly circling itself on the map as the cultural capital of Cathays.
