{"id":5105,"date":"2014-02-17T23:18:11","date_gmt":"2014-02-17T23:18:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cardiffstudentmedia.co.uk\/quench\/?p=5105"},"modified":"2014-02-23T11:20:27","modified_gmt":"2014-02-23T11:20:27","slug":"review-fiddler-roof-new-theatre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cardiffstudentmedia.co.uk\/quench\/culture\/review-fiddler-roof-new-theatre\/","title":{"rendered":"Review: Fiddler on the Roof &#8211; The New Theatre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cardiffstudentmedia.co.uk\/quench\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/02\/Fiddler-on-the-roof1.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5106\" alt=\"Fiddler on the roof1\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffstudentmedia.co.uk\/quench\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/02\/Fiddler-on-the-roof1.jpg\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1151\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Paul Michael Glaser, star of \u00d4\u00c7\u00ff70s cop thriller \u00d4\u00c7\u00ffStarsky and Hutch&#8217;, leads the talented cast of <i>Fiddler on the Roof<\/i> as Tevye which is on at the New Theatre until Saturday 8th February.<\/p>\n<p>Set in Tsarist Russia in 1905, <i>Fiddler<\/i> tells the story of Tevye, the father of five daughters who attempts to preserve his family and Jewish traditions in the face of the Tsar evicting Jews from their homes. The original 1964 Broadway production held the record for the longest running musical for almost ten years and enjoyed equal success in London&#8217;s West End.<\/p>\n<p>Glaser, who appeared as Perchik in the 1971 film adaptation, oozes charm and charisma from the minute he steps onto the stage and is the star throughout.
