Whether you&#8217;re an avid watcher of the series, a recipient of baked goods inspired by the show, or simply a witness to the mass of Twitter abuse certain contestants have received, the BBC&#8217;s hit show, now in its 5<sup>th<\/sup> series, has brushed off on us all.<\/p>\n<p>As the grand finale approaches and the baking madness hits fever pitch, Quench Food &amp; Drink are here to aid the cake shaped hole in your life with two student friendly recipes. Mix occasionally with a wooden spoon.<\/li>\n<li>Stir in the Guinness and pour into a large mixing bowl.<\/li>\n<li>Beat the sour cream in, then add the eggs and mix thoroughly.<\/li>\n<li>Stir the flour and baking powder in and then pour the mixture into the baking tin and bake in the oven for 45 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>To make the topping, beat the remaining butter with the cream cheese and icing sugar until smooth.<\/li>\n<li>When the cake has cooled, smother the top with the butter cream, and never leave the cake unattended again (it will be eaten by your housemates if not under constant supervision!)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Peanut Butter Cookies<\/h4>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6454\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6454\" style=\"width: 480px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cardiffstudentmedia.co.uk\/quench\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/09\/Peanut-butter-cookies.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-6454   \" alt=\"Peanut butter cookie recipe\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffstudentmedia.co.uk\/quench\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/09\/Peanut-butter-cookies.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cardiffstudentmedia.co.uk\/quench\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/09\/Peanut-butter-cookies.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/cardiffstudentmedia.co.uk\/quench\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/09\/Peanut-butter-cookies-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/cardiffstudentmedia.co.uk\/quench\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/09\/Peanut-butter-cookies-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cardiffstudentmedia.co.uk\/quench\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/09\/Peanut-butter-cookies-700x700.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6454\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credits: Bakingmad.com<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>125g butter<\/li>\n<li>195g light muscovado sugar (you can use caster sugar if it&#8217;s cheaper)<\/li>\n<li>1 egg<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp vanilla extract<\/li>\n<li>190g plain flour<\/li>\n<li>\u252c\u00a2 tsp baking powder<\/li>\n<li>\u252c\u00a2 tsp bicarbonate of soda<\/li>\n<li>300g chunky peanut butter (the Tesco value one&#8217;s great)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Method:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat the oven to 170 degrees and line two baking trays with grease-proof paper.<\/li>\n<li>Cream the butter and sugar together in a large mixing bowl until pale and smooth, then stir in the egg and vanilla extract.<\/li>\n<li>Sift the flour, baking powder and soda into the mixture slowly, making sure to give all the ingredients a good stir so they mix thoroughly. Then stir in the peanut butter.<\/li>\n<li>Taking small pieces of the dough, roll into 1 inch wide balls and place on the baking tray, equally spaced apart.
