Matt and Kim pull in big numbers. At the time of writing, \u00d4\u00c7\u00ffDaylight’ has pulled in just over 44 million streams on Spotify. Having seen their online presence, they sure make a lot of noise for a two piece. They’ve supported Fall Out Boy and are embarking on another European tour. So when the chance came to see them play Bristol \u00d4\u00c7\u00f4 why not?<\/p>\n
From the moment they stepped onstage to Pharoahe Monch, the tone was set. The room, although sparsely packed, was filled with an excitable energy. Bursting into \u00d4\u00c7\u00ffIt’s Alright’, waves of excitable positivity washed over the audience. As Matt encouraged the crowd to draw closer together, it was clear that this was going to be just as much fun as big show.<\/p>\n
Onstage extrovert antics made the set fun to watch, as Matt played one-legged on a stool and Kim clambered over her drum kit. The pair make a fantastic duo, complimenting each others personalities perfectly and blurring the line between performer and audience.<\/p>\n
Only a few songs into the set, balloons are thrown to the crowd, inflated and a colourful party ensues. Shortly after a giant parachute covers the crowd, inciting flashbacks to PE lessons, with an interlude to Rhianna’s \u00d4\u00c7\u00ffUmbrella’.<\/p>\n
Matt and Kim put on an excellent evening. It’s rare to see a band with only keys and drums, breaking the traditional mould. The duo’s stage presence certainly made up for any instruments they lacked. Despite the small audience, it was a real treat to see these guys rock one of the most fun gigs this year.<\/p>\n
