Hunter Moore, dubbed ÔÇÿthe most hated man on the internetÔÇÖ, has been given a prison sentence of up to seven years. Having created the site ÔÇÿIs Anyone UpÔÇÖ in 2010, it sparked the fire for a new way of getting revenge on an ex-partner.
In the new phenomenon of ÔÇÿrevenge pornÔÇÖ, making it possible for ex-lovers to humiliate, abuse and harass their old partner, posting sensitive pictures on the site. The site not only hosts pictures or videos of a person, but also much further information including their full name, city and links to social media, leading to the victim being subjected to cyber abuse, which can have serious consequences. Moore repeatedly refused to take the site down, and has avoided the law, until now.

Not only did Moore refuse to take the offensive site down, but he encouraged it and stated that he wouldnÔÇÖt care if ÔÇ£someone killed themselvesÔÇØ because of his website, and that further controversy was only making him more money.
Revenge porn has since started to become illegal in different states across the USA as well as new laws here in England and Wales. Under new amendments, currently awaiting royal assent, sharing images both online and offline could be prosecuted and face up to two years in prison. There were 149 allegations of revenge porn reported between January 2012 and July 2014. Only six of these resulted in police action, with the new law attempting to change that, as it becomes an even bigger problem.
