Netball slip up in Bath

Bath 2nds: 47
Cardiff: 30

Cardiff University Netball 1sts faced Bath 2nds in a highly anticipated top of the table clash .
Without coach Bev Powell in tow the team faced a tough challenge against undefeated Bath. Unfortunately Cardiff were unable to pick from their full squad which seemed to inspire Cardiff and make the competition fiercer.
Cardiff had a strong away win last week and hoped to carry that form into this potentially season defining clash. From the first whistle both teams fought for every ball. The desire to win was obvious and created a brilliant atmosphere. The game provided the high standard of netball expected with first class shooting and defending from both teams.
The away side had only managed  a five minute warm up before being thrown in to the action against their to their rivals. This however was not reflected in the game with the ladies fighting for each and every ball and the defensive players working immensely hard to achieve countless turn overs throughout the match.
Cardiff were certainly not giving the home side an easy ride. After a 60 goal win followed by a 34 goal win in previous weeks, Bath were somewhat panicked by the determined Cardiff team. Every centre pass had to be executed perfectly and each shot at goal mattered.
The final result was 47-30 to Bath but Cardiff were not disheartened by the loss. Under the circumstances this was a fantastic result and Cardiff will be sure to take heart from the defeat and  challenge Bath in the return fixture in December. Catrin Bowen was deservedly awarded player of the match for her solid performance throughout the game.

CARDIFF: E Crowley, J Mckeon, C Bowen, S May, E Baldock, J Cottrell, K Scott, K AÔÇÖbear, Elin Harding, R Montgomery
