MenÔÇÖs lacrosse promoted to BUCS Premier South

Cardiff University menÔÇÖs lacrosse team are delighted to have been promoted to the BUCS Premier South League for the first time in the clubÔÇÖs history following an exciting, victorious season.

This achievement is not only testament to the players, but to the club as a whole, which has grown in size to reach a record 152 members this year.

Club President Bradley Cooper said: ÔÇ£The promotion is a proud moment for me, the club and its hardworking members, who, aside from their success, represent a wonderful group of individuals.ÔÇØ

The club also achieved Gold Tier status and are now running for  AU Club of the Year.

The menÔÇÖs team managed an unbeaten season until losing to Sheffield Hallam, one of EnglandÔÇÖs top teams, in the BUCS Trophy Final a fortnight ago.

Cardiff were then set to play Reading in the second leg of the BUCS League play-offs but, having beaten the Berkshire side 11-3 away in the first stage, Reading conceded the fixture and ensured CardiffÔÇÖs promotion.

Their new position in the Premier League South will require more determination and training than ever before, but the team are enthusiastic for such a challenge and have high hopes for the future.

This Wednesday will see Cardiff play long-standing rivals Swansea in the much anticipated Welsh Varsity game on Pontcanna Fields.

Both the menÔÇÖs and ladiesÔÇÖ teams are hoping for a win and an enjoyable day for the whole club, which will be closely followed by their departure for this yearÔÇÖs end-of-season tour to Spain.
