Nineties indie icons and leaders of phenomenon; Pixies take to the stage tonight at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena and it is not one to miss. Currently touring their second post reunion album Head Carrier,┬áPixies are not ready to throw in the towel just yet.
Returning in 2004 with much anticipation, Pixies fulfilled the expectations of the indie kids, with endless touring and an ode to the classic Pixies anthems such as Where is My Mind?┬áand Here Comes Your Man.┬áAlmost ten years later came new Pixies material, with 2013 album Indie Cindy,┬áaccumulating a mix of reviews, differentiating from previous appraisal, it brought into question if it is the same Pixies we all know and love. However, the new album Head Carrier┬áhas been said to have took half as long to make, with much more time and loving been thrown into the album. It’s been made in an entirely different way from previous albums whilst still apparently having that classic Pixies sound that we all expect.
It will be an intriguing opportunity for┬áPixies to prove that they have still got it. Showcasing the new album, as well as embracing the classics. Not to mention, showcasing their, yet again, new bassist Paz Lenchantin, replacing the two Kims. It will be intriguing to see what tonight will bring…
