With the release of their new album Wildlife, The Lovely Eggs most certainly have crashed back on to the pop music scene with a bang.┬áThis fierce self recorded album has already made its mark on the musical spectrum with support from BBC 6 music and the lead single Allergies becoming ArtrockerÔÇÖs single of the month.
The whole piece is highly reminiscent of the thrashing punk-pop of the 70ÔÇÖs with a British twang. Throughout the album there are comments on the everyday as well as more complex issues of emotions and relationships. HollyÔÇÖs pure anger driven screams in I Just Want Someone To Fall In Love With provide a shocking contrast the usual tones of a love song and paired with thrashing guitars from her partner David the track sets the tone for the whole album. This combination however, after a listen to the full record, becomes somewhat repetitive. Technically the album is sound, a balance of rawness and genuine talent on the part of Holly and David, but this does not mask the lack of distinction between tracks.
Overall a great album for fans of the band or genre but perhaps not the most easy listen for those who are not.
