I recently joined a two-day “Give It a Go” trip to York and Whitby, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From start to finish, the trip was well-organized and stress-free, with a comfortable coach ride that allowed us to relax and enjoy the journey.
In York, I had the chance to explore some incredible attractions. The York Chocolate Story was a sweet highlight, where we learned about the city’s fascinating chocolate-making history and enjoyed some delicious treats. The Shambles, with its charming medieval buildings and cobblestone paths, transported me back in time, and York Minster, with its stunning Gothic architecture and impressive stained-glass windows, was absolutely awe-inspiring. The mix of history, culture, and delicious food made York an ideal destination for exploration.
In the evening, we made our way to Whitby, where our hostel was conveniently located at the top of the famous 199 steps. The climb was certainly a challenge, but the stunning views of Whitby as we reached the top made it all worth it! The ghost tour that followed was an absolute highlight. Not only was it spooky and fun, but it was also incredibly informative, offering fascinating insights into the history of Whitby, its haunted locations, and the legends surrounding the town. After the tour, we had some free time to wander the charming streets, enjoy the seaside atmosphere, and sample Whitby’s famous fish and chips. The dramatic views from Whitby Abbey, perched on the cliffs overlooking the North Sea, were breath-taking and made the trip even more memorable.
The return journey to York was just as relaxing as the way there, and I appreciated the flexibility of having extra time for more sightseeing in York. The combination of historical landmarks, scenic views, and quirky experiences made this trip special, and I truly enjoyed every moment. Whether you’re a history buff, a foodie, or someone looking for unique adventures, this trip to York and Whitby offers something for everyone. Highly recommended!
