Although this is the first year Lebanon is participating in Fashion Utopias, the 5th edition of the British Council Annual International Fashion Showcase, the countryÔÇÖs success in fashion designing has already been established by some renowned stars. Elie Saab, Reem Acra and Zuhair Murad are just a few of the leading designers that have cemented their genius work in the industry. To further promote up-and-coming designers from Lebanon, The Arab British Centre in London collaborated with Starch Foundation to curate Blueprint Beirut, an exhibition not to be missed if you happen to be in London between the 19th and 23rd of February at the Somerset House.
Starch Foundation began as a program nearly eight years ago by fashion designer Rabih Kayrouz and fashion entrepreneur Tala Hajjar, with the sole purpose of shining the spotlight on deserving fresh, new talent who may possibly change the face of fashion in the future. Expect to see customised pieces of art from various emerging names like Bashar Assaf and Mira Hayek, who claim to reflect the traditions of Lebanese fashion in a journey that promises and end in Mediterranean heritage.
The masterpieces are put on display in a transient space designed by architect Elie Metnie, the perfect finishing touch to combine the personal interpretation of the Lebanese capital in association with London Fashion Week.
Blueprint Beirut is free to enter but best be attended with pre-registration. Find more info and register here.
