Swedish sensation Tim Bergling, better known by his stage name Avicii, is one of the biggest and most in-demand DJÔÇÖs in the world right now. His eagerly anticipated True Tour kicked off in Australia at the end of January and touched down in Blighty on 21st February, where the house DJ performed to a sold out EarlÔÇÖs Court in London. Following on from headline slots at Electric Daisy Carnival and CreamfieldÔÇÖs last year, AviciiÔÇÖs British fans knew to expect a show with thumping songs and incredible production, and he certainly did not fail them.
Coming on to the stage in his trademark backwards baseball cap, Avicii said nothing but instead kicked off the show with a bang by playing one of his newer tracks, ‘Hey Brother’. A confetti cannon shortly ensued, causing the standing crowd to grab aimlessly around them in a bid to gain a free souvenir, all while jumping up and down and taking photographs with their smart phones (as is standard procedure at any gig nowadays).
As the show progressed, the DJ played a mixture of his own tracks and remixes of songs by other artists, including an inventive yet brilliant remix of ‘Do I Wanna Know’ by Brit Award winners Arctic Monkeys. Other songs included his chart-topping hits ‘You Make Me’ and ‘Levels’, plus new tracks from his latest album ‘True’.
Known for being shy, Avicii said only a brief “thank you and goodbye” to the crowd before departing from the stage, only to return for an encore of his hit song ‘Wake Me Up’, which received a huge reception from the sold out crowd. Despite being only 24 years old, Avicii has released a string of hits and is only going to get bigger and better from here.
