Preview: DR. Martens #standforsomething Tour

Promotional shot of Eagulls

Cardiff’s Clwb Ifor Bach will be lucky enough to play host to Eagulls on 11th October.

After last year’s sold-out #standforsomething tour which featured the likes of Lower Than Atlantis, Dry The River and Young Guns amongst others, this Autumn will see another string of bands take to intimate venues all over the UK. DR Martens’s have rearranged the event for 2014, hitting five new British cities as well as a stop in the capital. The confirmed line-up this year includes We Are The Ocean, Tonight Alive, Los Campesinos!, Eagulls and Funeral For A Friend. The stellar supports have just been announced and include Arcane Roots, Only Rivals, Johnny Foreigner and God Damn. The simple premise of placing the most exciting live acts of the moment in tiny venues lends the tour something unique, and Cardiff’s Clwb Ifor Bach will be lucky enough to play host to Eagulls on 11th October, with support from Mazes.

Eagulls have had an impressive year. With an array of festival sets and an impressive self-titled debut album at their back, #standforsomething may be the last time we can hear their shoegazing-punk in a small venue. But what do Eagulls actually stand for?

In the words of George Mitchell from the band: “I stand for creative freedom. Creativity for me is like a drug; when I don’t get to be creative I snap.”
