Listening to Radkey’s new single ‘Feed My Brain’, it is clear to see that this punk-rock group are trying a different approach to their usual style of music. Gone is the fast paced tempo seen in tracks such as ‘Romance Dawn’, as instead we are introduced to a slower-paced, yet equally rocky sound. However, far from detracting from this band’s compelling music, ‘Feed My Brain’ with its catchy, almost anthem-like chorus succeeds in creating an exciting new single. Its impelling bass line and beat give the single its power, working well with the intriguing verses that add to the song’s originality. Although originally an experimental track, under the guidance of Ross Orton, who has worked on likes of the latest Arctic Monkeys album, this song contains an unmistakeable sense of energy. Sharing the same sense of energy is the band’s cover of Faith No More’s ‘Digging My Grave’ which accompanies the single. Bringing their music back up to its original tempo with its successful combination of guitars, strong vocals and rock, Radkey’s cover more than lives up to the original version. As a result, the listener in left in no doubt that the band will achieve its aim of “putting rock music back in the front of things”.
