What is Creative Cardiff?

If you’re a student interested in a creative career, then keep reading to find out why people rave about Creative Cardiff.

Formed in 2015, Creative Cardiff is a network which brings people from all creative communities together.

This November they celebrated 10 years, as the network has engaged with over 6,000 creatives, offering regular networking opportunities, workshops, socials and more.

Don’t believe us?

Hear from a fellow student, Katie Bowen, from the MA in Creative and Cultural Industries course:

“Creative Cardiff has played such a big part in my journey, from offering invaluable insights for my research to helping me gain the kind of experience, confidence and connections that have shaped my career directions”.

Creative Cardiff is best described in four pillars: Connected, Collaborative, Creative and Cardiff.

1. Connected

Connecting creatives from a range of sectors through online and in-person events.

4. Cardiff

Carys Bradley-Roberts, Manager of Creative Cardiff, said:

“Creative Cardiff advocates for the value of creativity and for creatives. We aim to make the city and region a connected, collaborative, creative capital.

While we’re marking a decade of Creative Cardiff, it is important to say that we would not exist and certainly wouldn’t still be here 10 years on, if it wasn’t for the wealth of creative excellence, creative places, spaces and people who shape Cardiff and the region’s creative economy. That community is at the heart of all that we do, and we look forward to continuing the journey together to make Cardiff a capital of creativity.”

So, if you’re a student looking to go into journalism and media, marketing, music or anything else creative then being involved in Creative Cardiff’s work will be perfect for you.

As students, we all know that networking is an important skill to have, so I’d also recommend getting tickets for their monthly “Creative Cuppas” next year. Great news, they’re free!

Creative Cuppa – Building Creative Futures Internationally (September 2025)

Their cuppas are monthly networking events, bringing the creative community together for connection, creativity, caffeine (and cake)!

Each Creative Cuppa begins with a TED-style talk on a theme such as the one above or ‘Building a Network’, followed by an hour to chat and eat cake.

If you’re wondering how to get started in pursuing that creative career of yours, then coming along. These events will be a perfect opportunity to meet like-minded students, professionals etc. from areas that interest you.

Did anyone say LinkedIn? Yes, that’s right. It’s the perfect place to grow your connections in the heart of the capital city!

If you’re graduating this year or have already graduated, then check out their jobs and opportunities page here and see their current listings. More than 5,000 local creative opportunities have been supported through its listings so go check it out!

Creative Cardiff is the perfect place that allows you to meet professionals in areas that interest you, learn more about the diverse city and try something new.

Why not bring a friend or two and try out an event? You never know who you could meet and what opportunities it might bring.
